really loved Ethan and Angel in Fractured Hymns! A beautiful story of two men who felt that they had no hope of finding love because of their broken lives; actually finding a way to create the perfect love.This is a story of hope and of healing. A journey of putting another person's needs ahead of your own and finding that what you really need is each other. I loved how music played a vital role in helping with their healing and with their communication. Singing and playing together was a bond that gave them strength, they let the music sooth their souls and help mend their hearts.
I loved seeing two really good men build a friendship with caring and gentleness. Each man was dealing with their own kind of hell and they recognized the vast loneliness and emptiness in each other. The story will break your heart and it will renew your sense of hope in life and how we can mend and become new and stronger.

1000 percent one of the best I have ever read. I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in one day. Bittersweet and beautiful. Arthur nailed it. I will read this one again
Well written, wonderfully getting to rougher sides of real lives. Nothing superficial here; Real people, real characters, warts and all. A bit schmaltzy but an engaging read.
While the majority of this story was expected there were a couple of surprises, which I like, as it holds my attention. What bothered me was all the loose threads that are left. Still it was well written and plotted, if a little slow.
This could have been one of my all time favorites it reached a peak then got fast tracked . I liked it but I was disappointed. These two people were starved for the very things they gave oneanother , their relationship was glossed over when it should have been life changing.
What an extraordinary book. I don't do spoilers, so check the blurb to see what it's about. I am, however, willing to tell you it's a wonderful love story about two men "fractured" in different ways, finding each other. You might want to have some tissues handy when you hit the ending. Not because it's sad, though the book does deal with various losses, but because it's so very beautiful.
This book came as a recommendation from my group on Goodreads. I have read this author before and I have always been happy. Ethan and Angel's story is different from a lot of them I've read. You have Ethan, war veteran, construction worker, and totally messed up in the head. The accident ensures Ethan must go home to get better. He never expected to find Angel, love, or a future. Angel is spent time in prison for protecting his mom. Now he works for the family stables. Both have serious issues, both want each other, and both realize how hard that road will be. Will they decide its worth it? I really loved the realness to this story. It's a great read.
I liked quite a lot about this book. It features two main characters with physical limitations and emotionally painful pasts. Ethan and Angel come together through admiration of each other's character as well as physical attraction. They help each other cope with their difficulties and find happiness in the lives they lead now.
I think the story is let down a bit by the quality of the writing. The storytelling is workmanlike but the prose often feels slightly clunky and the dialogue between the main characters sometimes tends towards cheesiness when they express their feelings for each other. For me, these flaws undermined the emotional intensity of some key scenes.
Still, overall this was a pleasant read with appealing characters. I think if you're a fan of the author you'll enjoy this book.
